Placenta Encapsulation

The postpartum period is a deeply transformative time that deserves care, respect, and intentional support. Placenta encapsulation offers a natural method to ease this transition—helping to promote faster recovery, reduce postpartum bleeding, support emotional balance, minimize hair loss, and boost milk production.

The placenta is a remarkable, life-giving organ rich in essential hormones, vitamins, and minerals. After birth, it can be processed for consumption to help replenish your body and restore physical and emotional balance. Created by your body to sustain your baby’s growth, the placenta can now serve to nourish and support you during your postpartum journey.

Why Encapsulate?

Placenta encapsulation is a method of preparing the placenta into capsules for the birth person to ingest during the postnatal period. The process involves cleaning and steaming the placenta prior to dehydrating the moisture out of it, followed by grinding it so it can be filled into capsules.

Benefits of Placenta Encapsulation:

  • Helps minimize postpartum bleeding

  • Supports the initiation and maintenance of breast milk production

  • Reduces stress-related hormones

  • Restores vital nutrients such as iron and vitamin B6

  • Aids in preventing mood fluctuations commonly known as "baby blues"

  • Boosts overall energy levels

Additionally, it may reduce the likelihood and severity of postpartum depression, restore depleted iron levels, promote a steady release of oxytocin, and supply human placental lactogen (HPL) to encourage early and effective milk production. It also helps regulate hormonal fluctuations after childbirth, replenishes B vitamins and energy expended during labor, offers protection against infections and excessive bleeding caused by retained placental tissue, and serves as a natural form of pain relief.

I completed my training through the International Placenta and Postpartum Association. I am fully trained in OSHA bloodborne pathogen safety protocols and hold a current food handlers training.  I only work with one placenta at a time from start to finish to ensure there are no mix-ups or contamination issues.

Our current services include pick up and drop off at your birthing location or home, or the option for drop off and pick up at my home near downtown. In order to ensure the highest level of safety for you and baby while retaining the most benefits, I use the basic heated method of preparation and encapsulation. Free additional options include the umbilical cord dried in a heart shaped keepsake as well as a placenta print. Each placenta creates 100-150 capsules, sometimes more.

When I receive your placenta, I begin work as soon as possible. It is always my goal to get everything completed and back to you as quickly as the process allows so that you can start taking the capsules right away to get the benefits started.
